CineBudge

Cinema is a big part of our life. For years, countries has been shooting films in various methods by allocating large budgets or low budgets for their cinema. We wanted to draw attention to this dynamism in the cinema sector by getting data from certain institutions. We have decided to reuse the existing data in a way that is accurate, without bias, and within the boundaries of our main idea. Our goal is to make the data readable for ordinary users in addition to machine reading.

The CineBudge project was created by Deniz Tural and Umut Kucuk for the final examination of the Open Access and Digital Ethics course of the Digital Humanities and Digital Knowledge master's degree of Bologna University.

WorkFlow

After determining our main idea, which is our first goal, we started to find open data. It was not easy to find data in the field of cinema, which is a specific cultural field. After a detailed research, we were able to reach accurate, unbiased and clear data. We took care that our data is easily accessible, clear and human-machine readable.

Our goal is to make the data readable for ordinary users in addition to machine reading. We prepared our project within the framework of DCAT-AP standards, paying attention to copyright rights. Metadata helps to discover data, understand the nature and structure of the data. Find the origin of the data and under what rems it may be used.

In this part we created textual description for our dataset and necessary information on the Open Access domain. Moreover we visualized our dataset in various format.

Publication

Finally we published our project with respect to the GitHub platform. We understand that publishing high-quality Open Data requires some effort. We gave high priority on 5-Star Open Data model.
